Each template brings its own simple inline markers (e.g. TODO:, INGR:, CHAR:). The sidebar detects them automatically and makes them interactive: rename characters, check off tasks, scale quantities, check subnet conflicts. At the end of the file, the app maintains a slim meta block — invisible in the renderer, handy for versioning.
